ProjectLab is a research and teaching group initiated and led by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), with collaborators from Aalborg University and Copenhagen Business School. We support the development of project management practices that enable societal transformation.
Projects are ubiquitous in contemporary society and have become a vital means of organizing deliberate change—from developing new technologies to implementing sustainability policies. It is therefore reasonable to argue that we are witnessing the rise of the Project Society.
Projects are especially central to engineering. Engineering is about creating value for society and businesses by addressing societal challenges through the development and implementation of technology. In essence, engineering is about change—and that change is often organized through projects. Arguably, project management is the second most important competence for engineers, as it enables them to organize their technical capabilities within teams that collaboratively solve societal challenges. Most, if not all, engineers will engage in projects throughout their education and careers.
Our teaching ecosystem is designed for students and practitioners with a special interest in projects. Through our unique resources and innovative learning practices, we empower students to participate successfully in any type of project, helping them become reflective project practitioners and agents of change. Our courses span the fields of Project Management, Program Management, and Portfolio Management.
